Cesare's life

Cesare’s life started in a pinch black night, when he’s mother Nachine – at that time Cardinal Rodrigo’s mistress – summoned by evil forces walked out at the top of the castle and was hit by a lightning in which the words “The pact is sealed” foreshadowed that something wrong had been held. Little she knew that Rodrigo on his seek for the Papal seat made an unholy pact with demons, giving up his own flesh and blood in the person of his newly born son to achieve their allegiance.

However, Nachine realized her baby had been damned and soon enough rejected him. Thus being the first person to express hatred toward Cesare. Shortly after, Rodrigo realizing his actions started looking down his own baby, an attitude that would always remain cold and unbearable to Cesare. Nachine aware that her infant represented a seed for the devil quickly attempt to kill him by strangling but the evil spirits already fervent protectors of their reward stepped in and scared Nachine causing a fire to start up.

Cesare, the miracle baby to many, survived and only shortly after was placed under Rodrigo’s new mistress care, Vanozza Catanei. For many years Vanozza took care of Cesare and loved him as if he were her own son, being his shield against the devils hanging close to Cesare. There her sealing power came as handful and the young boy grew up fairly safe and happy.

Yet Cesare’s life had another hit down when Vanozza as per Rodrigo’s order had to left behind her children and depart Rome. This point has been of crucial importance to young Cesare when he saw his only refuge and mother-love image leave him to a cold loneliness once again.

At that stage, Cesare’s life was only going to turn worst as Adriana de Mila and her son Orso Orsini where charged to oversee the Borgia offspring. Soon enough Cesare learnt the he couldn’t trust anybody after a failed rape attempt, courtesy of Adriana’s son. His rescuer, a hired swordsman called Marrone, took him under his wing opening the world of the sword to the young Borgia. However, nothing is what it seems. Unfortunately, Marrone was in fact an assassin under cover targeting Cardinal Rodrigo through Giulia Farnese. Cesare discovered his plan and succeed into make it fail but thanks to Giulia false accusation, his own father looked down at him with despise and shame.

Fed up of the suffering and total lack of acknowledgement of his value from his father, Cesare runs away just to come upon Marrone. A decisive turn in his life comes from this encounter as young Cesare is once again betrayed and must rely on his own devil minions to survive.v

Yet, far from ending his misery Rodrigo decides it’s his best interest to split up his son from his other children. With fear in his heart he decides to send Cesare at Perugia where he will be enclosed in priesthood scholarship, this being a good way to keep an eye on him as well as taking him out of his family.

Taken down again by his own father, Cesare starts to think it would be for the best to cease his existence. Still, faith has other plans which involve the man that’s supposed to finish off Cesare. Enter Chiaro. Isn’t it destiny’s irony that under the mask of a black angel of death resides Cesare’s own salvation? Cesare believes so and quickly take a strong grip to this motivation beyond any conventional considerations. Though he often keeps his thought to himself, there is no mistake in why he chose Chiaro to be the one who will take his life away if one day he loses his soul to his inner demons.

And thus with a promise that bound them since that day, Cesare takes his destiny in his hands. Decided to achieve an ideal that none has dare to dream of, even if that dream means carving a path to destruction and what else his own downfall to hell.

“I will show you how big the world is. No place shall go untouched by my conquering hand.”
- Cesare to Chiaro.

And so, Cesare with a renewed strength much attributed to the devils living in his body starts a long term and exhausting scheme which finally lead to his father ascendance to the Papal throne. Approximately 4 years later, the now eldest of the Borgia offspring keeps on climbing scales within the Holy Church until he makes his father nominate him to the red robe title, cardinal. At his 19 years, Cesare has finally reached his goal or so it seems. Closely watched by his dark shadows, Cesare’s lust for power is unstoppable.

Now, a powerful schemer and strategist Cesare struggles seem to only turn deeper. His few selected precious people split ways from him, either be by Cesare obligation and for their own good or, because of circumstances. Although, he doesn’t really want to care and forces him to be strong, Cesare is still frail and his heart only makes the pain much more unbearable.

Tagio here plays a more active role. His obsession to see how far his master can go probably blinds him, thus leading to a quicker Cesare’s downfall and surrender to darkness. Yet, the young man fights to accomplish his dream, his vision.

Overall, Cesare Borgia has grown with the will of making something out of his hopeless destiny. He knows his life will end at some point and his soul will be given out to his inner demons, yet he wants to defy that kismet. Deep inside, Cesare wants to be happy or at least gain a little happiness while he lives although this innocent secret wish has been displaced by his ambition.

A sad soul and an empty man that’s all shall remains.
